Bhagalpur is a municipal corporation town situated in the planes of the Ganga river basin at the height of 141 feet above sea level in Bihar, India. It is the third largest city of Bihar, and covers an area of 2569.50km2 and lies between 25.07'N - 25.30'N Latitude and between 86.37'E - 87.30'E Longitude. Bhagalpur has registered an average annual growth of 3.72%,for the period of 2006-2010. It is the administrative headquarters of the Bhagalpur district. Bhagalpur is world renowned for its silk products and it is known in India as the "Silk City", famous for its Tussar Silk & Tussar Saree.
Ruin Svikramsila
Vikramshila is an ancient site located 40 km away from the Bhagalpur city of Bihar. The small town is famous for housing Vikramshila University, which was built under the guidance of Dharmapala, a Pala king of 8th century AD.
Ajgaibinath
Ajgaibinath is in Bhagalpur district of Bihar state in India. The Ajgaibinath temple is in the midstream of the holy river Ganga. There is a hill where one can find the Ashram of Jahnu Muni, and the Shiva temple of Ajgaivinath is situated at its summit. According to the popular legend, Lord Shiva took here a bow known as Ajgav. This is why this place came to be known as Ajgaivinath.
